Today, for the first time ever (in my life not just in this relationship), I told my boyfriend that I love him… and immediately said, “I’m sorry” afterward (super facepalm moment, I know).

Today, for the first time ever (in my life, not just in this relationship), my boyfriend told me he loved me.

I am 24 years old. I never thought I would be where I am now. I thought I would be light years ahead of this at times, and at others, I never thought that moment would happen for me.

My biggest takeaway from 2018 though, you are loved. So freaking loved. You are loved whether someone says it to you or not. You are loved whether you have another person to give it to or not. You ARE love. You are worthy of love. It took me a long long LONG time (did I say long? I am not exaggerating here) to realize that and accept it and really integrate that knowledge into my life, I truly didn’t really bother until 2018 started. It was painful sometimes, but it transformed the shit out of absolutely everything.

Today is the first day of 2019.

Spend it in love with whatever you can, even if it is just yourself because that is a really really good start. Sometimes people say that’s shitty advice, to “love yourself first”. But I truly believe it is the only reason I can not only say it today but also accept it from someone that I truly care about.
